November 14, 2014, 9:14 am Had a cal just now from this number, said his name was Robert Brown & he was from Red Telecom & could give me cheap line rental & 500 minutes free calls. When I looked the number up it didn't exist & the only red telecom company I could find on google was in Sudan!Fed up with all these calls supposed to be signed up to TPS they are no use at all. November 26, 2014, 10:47 am Received a call from indian sounding female on a poor line. I was told that she was from Windows Software centre and that my computer had been infected with spyware. As soon as I asked her "when did this happen?" She put the phone down. Obviously not the most imaginative or quick thinking of scammers as that must have been too difficult to answer! December 20, 2014, 10:34 am Just had a call from an Indian sounding bloke on this number. I put the phone down. They rung straight back and asked why I put the phone down. I told him we are sick of these type of calls and swore in the hope that they would hang up. He swore back at me! I ripped into him demanding to speak to his supervisor. He then asked me if I was Black Chinese! Eventually we calmed down as he discovered that all the information they had on my number was wrong. Still asking for my name (which he didn't get) he called me Mr X and he then told me they would never ring again. Fingers crossed but I'm not holding my breath. DON'T GIVE ANY INFO OUT! December 23, 2014, 11:26 am A call this morning from "Philip " an indian sounding guy who said he was from microsoft and that he was calling about a problem on my computer. I told him that he was a scammer and asked him how he knew whether i had a computer or not? I hung up.. The rate at which the calls were arriving indicated a automated dialler, producing about 100 calls per minute in bursts of 20. February 12, 2015, 11:17 am Got this 1055 today, she said Technical Dept of Windows. I said No you're not and rang off. Phone Companion tells me Cross Hands, Ammanford. Spoofing is getting a bit cleverer these days - as another poster said, using UK numbers to get around international call blocking. Some even use the respondent's home exchange hoping they'll answer, and in one case the respondent's own number! Be even more vigilant, and if you don't know the number, let it go to voicemail. September 23, 2015, 2:05 pm A man with strong Indian accent, claiming to be called Thomas, called today and yesterday (yesterday number withheld). He said he was from TalkTalk, he knew my name and address and that I'm a TalkTalk customer (and he read me an account number that he said was mine). He said my broadband was being used by someone not from my address and that they needed to investigate this. He told me to type Ctrl R and in the "run" panel to type %u201Cwww.bit.do/talktalksmpc%u201D upon which a new tab opened in my browser and a file called %u201CShowMyPC3161.exe%u201D offered to download. I believe this is a programme to enable hackers to take control of your computer. He told me to download it. I said "no" and hung up, but he tried it again today. September 30, 2015, 12:30 pm had a call from this number and after one ring it cut off, then had 3 missed calls from an 'unavailable' number, a few days later I had another call from this number (again only rang for one ring) then it cut off and had an 'unavailable' phone number call me again, this time they were using TalkTalk as their cover saying they were from the technical team and were getting warning signals from my internet line. It all sounded quite real until they tried directing me to talktalkrefund09.wix.com/home... yes... because talktalk would need to use WIX to host a free site for them... Gave them a lot of abuse down the phone and hung up on them, they then tried ringing back 4-5 times in a row before giving up. Caller Type: Scammer

May 5, 2016, 10:22 am I just got a call on the house phone, Indian sounding man....it was laughably inconsistent - he said he was from talk talk and was he speaking with (my surname), then told me he was going to shut our internet off to 're-boot the system', when I asked why they were doing that he said because of all the unwanted pop ups we keep getting. I said we don't get any. Then he said it was because it was too slow, I told him it wasn't. Then he told me to start typing stuff into the keyboard, I told him then that he was trying to scam me...he said "sir have I even asked for you any personal details or anything..." May 6, 2016, 12:41 pm Called today from this number and needless to say this was a standard scam call from an Indian man called Nick (that's a lie) claiming to be from BT (another lie) and warning me that my PC was full of viruses etc. (3rd lie and he'd only been on the phone a minute or so!) Strung him along for a few minutes while we looked at the Event Viewer logs on my PC before he passed me onto his (no name) manager. The manager claimed that all of the 'Error' and 'Warning' logs were viruses and spyware which were being installed onto my computer between 02:00-05:00, which would be difficult as my PC is powered down then. He then talked me through accessing the 'Run' command (Windows button R) and wanted me to go to www.teamviewer.com, presumably so that he could gain access to my PC and install various spyware, viruses etc. When I pointed out to him what he was attempting to do and the fact that he didn't work for BT, but that I do, he became very angry and gave me 020 3129 1957 as a call back number (which I've also logged as a scam number) before he hung-up. May 20, 2016, 12:25 pm Just received a call from Roger to tell me my internet connection will be disconnected tomorrow for 15 days as my router has been hacked from overseas. an Engineer will be calling to install a new router and establish a new internet connection. He wanted the IP address of my current router (I didn't give it) and ask how far away from the computer is the router - I can touch both whilst sitting in my office. When i told him i wasnt with talk talk and before i could ask him to delete my number from his calling list, he told me to F@@@ off and he put down receiver.
