The person will claim to be from the "Telephone Preference Management Service" and ask to renew your membership and give them financial information to pay for the service. They claim to block calls with their services, but I am not currently a members so the claims of needing renew are suspicious to me. I think this could be a scam.

Claims to be from TPS or TPMS. Not sure if TPS has a real service or if this a company using a similar name. I couldn't be bothered to ask them as I hung up after they announced themselves. No time for sales calls in this day and age. Who does? And it's just too risky when you can shop online for what you need.

Telephone Preferences Management Service? They said they wanted to verify financial information to renew the service and I told them to tell me what they had already and they said I had to tell them. Not falling for this rubbish. Total wanker Indian trying to fool me into giving up my credit card details. This is a fake nuisance call service

call from this number asking for my bank details to renew tpn services that i know are free . i frequently keep up to date with all the scams so everyone in my household would never divulge any information but i can understand how old or vulnerable people are tricked . if the police are aware of where these calls are coming from why aren't these premises raided and everyone arrested . or better still killed .

Asked for my credit card expiry date but offered no coherent explanation of why they appeared to require only the expiry date when I stated we had never paid for a call blocking service.

Claimed to be "Kevin" from "Telephone Preference Management Service" asking if I was still receiving unwanted marketing calls. Declined to give any information or confirmation of who I am. Advised caller this was b****cks and advised him that if he was trying to scam me he should start by getting the TPS name right!

As with other comments - had a call from "Telephone Preference Management Service" asking if I was still receiving unwanted marketing calls. Very persistent in asking me for my debit card details which of course I refused to give.

"Maxwell" from the Telephone Preference Mumble Service called today to "renew my registration", insisted that it would cost nothing, free service, but they they had "been performing upgrades to the service and needed to refresh my details".

He took it badly when I told him that this was nonsense, and went off in a strop, saying he didn't want to give me the service upgrade now. Shame.

Just received a call. Indian gentleman calling claiming to be from telephone preference service. Asked me to confirm name, address and postcode, which they had and then said the card details were related to a card due to expire 03/16. Knowing that the real TPS is free, I ended the call. Beware!!

Same scenario - Indian-sounding woman claiming to be from the TPS and asking for personal details, obviously a scam so I ended the call straight away.

As above, got very stroppy with me when I told him I was registered with the TPS and did not want to be registered with his company Telephone Preference Management Services. Alarming he knows your name, address and telephone number, but when he started asking credit card expiry dates you know they're scammers. Feel sorry for the elderly and less aware as they could easily get caught. With so many people having calls from this same number, its a shame nothing can be done about them. They leave me seething.

A lengthy unsolicited phone call from someone in a call centre calling himself "Maxwell Williams" (but with an Indian accent) claiming to be from an organization called "Telephone Preference Management". He even gave me a website URL, "TPM.web.org" (which doesn't seem to exist) and a so-called job ID number "TPM121". He told me that TPM would be supplying a call blocker to stop nuisance calls to all telephone subscribers in the UK, and repeatedly emphasized that the device and lifetime subscription would be free - but eventually admitted that there would be "a nominal one-off lifetime registration charge" of £69, for which, needless to say, he required my debit or credit card details in advance.
All sounded quite convincing, especially as he had my correct name, address and phone number, and knew (or guessed) that I am pestered daily by nuisance calls despite being registered with TPS. However, I immediately realized it was a scam; I managed to string him along for around 15 minutes, then got him sounding a little desperate when I said I'd pay the registration charge after I received the device, then I pretended to go along with his advance payment demand, and told him to hang on while I went to get my credit card from the car - then I went out, leaving him waiting on the line!
A bit of fun for me, turning the tables on the telepests for once, but less savvy or elderly people could easily have been fooled by this con man. Anyone who does give their genuine card details would be very lucky if all they lost was the £69 "registration charge" for a non-existent service.
