These people are not from Microsoft at all and MS has made public statements about never making these kinds of calls as they are fake and designed to trick naive people with little computer skills into paying lots of money to fix computer problems that don't exist. They are famous in the UK and the US for misleading tech support calls and then selling you software which is actually free online easily. They most often have Indian accents and are known to become very rude after you begin o disagree with them in anyway. Very young and very arrogant. Caller Company: MS Tech Caller Type: Scammer

January 30, 2015, 9:34 pm A scammer claiming to be from Microsoft informing me about problems with my computer with viruses that are making their servers crash and I need to let them remotely come into my computer to fix it. I've heard this popular scam enough times already. Big load of rubbish. They want to sell tech support memberships afters scaring you that they saved you. March 23, 2015, 10:56 am technical support scam sayign they are involved with Microsoft and that they want to help with a virus infection. They have really strong Indian accents so it makes it hard to believe they are straight out of Indian in a call centre of some sort. I suggest playing with them and faking to cooperate and then just tell them you don't need the or accusing them of being criminals because they get really nasty them and prove they are scum. September 19, 2016, 1:53 pm These scammers are now claiming to be from BT and say that someone is using your internet connection. They instruct you to go to a website to check but its just a way of directing traffic to a phishing site. Ignore the call or ask for their BT 0800 number to ring them back. January 5, 2017, 8:56 am Had the Microsoft scam call yesterday. Ended up with a blank PC screen and a box which wanted a password to re start my PC. After a bit if research using another computer I found you simply type in syskey into this box and then restore your PC to a previous day. Worked for me.
