This is a legit call from the fraud dept of American Express regarding issues with your account. Nothing to worry. Call the number on the back of your card to confirm what they are saying if you wish to. Be 100% certain :)

I got a voicemail left for me from America Express about issues with my card. I called the customer service line listed on the back of my card to confirm this. I suggest others do the same. You can't believe what you hear when it comes to your credit cards and bank information. Call direct to verify it personally.

Scam to collect Personal Data pretending to call on behalf of American express. I didn't believe it and will call them later to confirm this.

I can also confirm that this is American Express. Answering machine message was left about an issue with fraud and I called them back to sort out the whole issue. All is better now and calling them direct is good advice. Never trust anything, even on comments sites when it comes to banking of any sort.

I've seen updates say this is a valid American Express fraud centre call, but I don't have an AMEX card and this number called me, so it's definitely not legit. Ignore it.

This is a fraud call. They told me it was URGENT! and I needed to contact American Express. I called AE from another line and there was no problem whatsoever with my account. Do not give any personal info to these callers!!

I think it is legit. I don't answer my home phone if no-one speaks for the answerphone, and whoever called from this number left no message, but when I checked my email just now, AmEx had contacted me about possibly fraudulent activity on my card - I'd tried to buy a new TV earlier when mine died. Sadly, of course, I'd had to use another card to complete the purchase in the end, so I missed out on my cashback - the only reason for having AmEx! - and you'd think they'd realize people don't buy TVs very often, so unusual activity is usual in this case (and it was

This number is legitimate.
I was suspicious when I received the call, so I ended it and rang the phone number on the back of my card. I got through to the fraud dept and they told me that someone had illegitimately attempted to use my card details within the last couple of days.
I would still advise that it is generally good practice to use the number on the back of your card rather than using the phone number you were called on.
