January 1, 2015, 5:07 am A person with a very thick Indian accent named "Mike" calling me about fraud that had been committed on my barclaycard and they needed by date of birth for verification. February 19, 2015, 12:01 am Potential phishing attempt from a fake Barclaycard fraud department trying to tell me that illegal transactions had been committed on my card and I needed to verify my personal information in order to reinstate the card since it was deactivated. June 17, 2015, 9:40 am Asian sounding con merchant told me he was calling from Barclaycard, he sounded very plausible until he asked me year of birth security question. I called Barclaycard immediately and was informed that they had not contacted me. Neither did Barclaycard recognise the number as one of their own. This number was being passed to their fraud dept. I told the caller that he was unavailable and he requested that he should return the call as a matter of urgency. I asked the caller what the call was about and he said, "Barclaycard". Asking questions to clear security for Barclaycard, told him to go and do something with himself. Blatant scam. I called Barclays and they confirmed they hadn't tried to contact me. May 17, 2016, 3:29 pm I have had this number checked by Barclays themselves, and it is not on their system. They told me that it is what is known as a blanket scam - the same messages are sent out to hundreds of numbers to scare you into thinking you owe money, hoping that someone will answer the phone. September 19, 2017, 5:59 pm Recieved a call off this number today twice first time on my home telephone . It was a man with an Indian accent . Said he was from Barclaycard and could he ask me some security questio s i refused and said i would phone Barclaycard . Put the phone down and then he phoned me on my mobile . Told him the same !!! . He was very polite and asked " did i need the number " . I was very lucky because we had had aproblem with Barclaycard yesterday and i had been in contact with them. , but had been assured the issue we had was now sorted .
