My research shows a lot of people getting calls that are asking for passwords or the first two numbers of the password for virgin services. Often times they will hang up immediately after you give it to them. Never give out information to this line. Call Virgin directly from numbers off their website if you want to a verify this caller. May 12, 2015, 6:34 pm I confirmed with Virgin Media that this is a scammer call of some sort. They tried to access my account and change settings.. Possibly trying to hack my account or get billing information out of it. Not a good number so best to avoid it or block it. June 25, 2015, 1:54 pm These people are blatantly utterly thick as s**t. Virgin media will not contact you any later than 20:00 (8pm). I was called at 20:45 (8.45pm) and hung up. I was suspicious to say the least as Ihave never been contacted any later than 8pm before. If they are going to try to scam people then at least get it right. Caller Company: Virgin Media....... June 26, 2015, 6:33 am It appears to be a legit number. Someone tweeted this number directly to virgin media and the confirmed that it appeared to be one of their numbers. February 2, 2016, 11:11 am Took down the number and rang Virgin Media. It is a genuine number. It is from their Phillopines call centre. Advised by the VM UK customer service operator to go through fully if you do want to accept any offer being made by them to know exactly what the costs are and when the offer price changes ..... As it normally is a great hike in price. I said that I did not want anything off them or would do in the future..... He has put a block and notes on my account to stop this happening in the future. February 22, 2016, 5:27 pm Last week I received over 10 calls from this number and another ending 9340 no messages are left and they are becoming a nuisance. I am looking into changing to sky as my monthly bills are over £80? To change anything means I have to stay with them another 12 months.... No thanks. A majority of the call centres have people with extremely strong accents, that at times, its near impossible to understand them. I have spoken to one man who was a huge help and he too couldn't understand the amount I was being charged. March 9, 2016, 3:25 pm Just had a call from these clowns, fortunately missed a call from them last week and looked up the number here. Answered this week to confirm my own suspicions, decided to string them along for a little bit before coming clean that i knew (or at least supposed) they were scammers. First thing they did was ask me for my password. No company will ever call you and ask for your own security details. Do not believe the speculation that this number is legitimate and certainly do not give them information. Caller Type: Scammer

April 9, 2016, 10:40 pm Had a call from this number and they said calling from Virgin Media. Asked for my pin number. Now yesterday I missed a call from them and my telephone was charged (I have pay-as-you-go) and some money was taken out. I do not believe it is Virgin Media and would be glad if someone could do something about those calls - to stop them disturbing people. Caller Type: Scammer

May 11, 2016, 2:21 pm On 2016-05-11 at 14:05, called by by asian/indian voice claiming to be Virgin Media, "How was I, call monitored and recorded for training purpose" then said, "could they have first three letter of my password". I answered with, "I think this is a scam and you should not be doing it". and ended call. My advice, just do not answer or talk to anyone whose call you do not expect. Why don't telecoms companies stop calls from these companies - their equipment is capable of detecting, terminating the number and reporting the location of these scammers to the authorities for prosecution. May 12, 2016, 1:48 pm Just took a call on my mobile for this number from a woman with an Asian accent claiming ot be Virgin Media asking for security details to confirm my identity with told them where to go and that I never reveal any details to unsolicited callers and if Virgin Media wanted to contact me they could email me. June 11, 2016, 3:32 pm I keep getting these calls on my mobile & as I recognise both the number 0800-408-9430 above, as well as previous variants of the number, so never respond - just always tediously deleting their number. However, when your correspondents say they block such scam numbers, nobody actually describes how anyone can permanently do this. Can anyone please help me to achieve blocking these vermin. The telephone preference service seems incapable of preventing these, from getting through !
