June 9, 2014, 7:56 pm i got this number as a missed call (must have just done one ring). when i rung the number a recorded message said it was the 'Racing advisory line' but there was no news today. anyhow 8 seconds of call was billed to me as 29.4 pence. this is a telephone fraud plain and simple and should be closed down. August 29, 2014, 4:17 pm If you have Android download "Zoner" from Play Store (free), there is an integrated Phone Filter part to the app and it BLOCKS any numbers you add to it, you wont even know if they have rung. October 5, 2014, 11:24 am Just received a call from this number at 10.58am. It rang once and then when I answered immediately it hung up. I rang back and there was a recorded message which says its the Racing Advisory Service and that their service would be updated at 11am. I called again at 11.01 and 11.05 and had the same message. No idea why they would call my number therefore I was curious. However on googling their number I found this forum and I seem to have been scammed. My EE account is showing 0.33p charges for each of the 4 calls I made which were only about 3 seconds long. YES I FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT. Caller Company: Racing Advisory Service Caller Type: Scammer

November 7, 2014, 11:36 am Single ring and rang off, always careful of these 0843 so checked on internet first. My reading is that this is a non geographic number, but if it is a scam then there must be some telecom provider with a contract for this number who then pays out to this Racing Advisory Line, they cannot just pluck money out of your bank account, so who out there knows which telecom company markets and parasitically lives off this scam, who is pimping it. December 9, 2014, 11:04 am Just received a phone call at 10:58 UK GMT time and was very weary as I never answer phone calls from numbers unknown to me! What's odd is that I have just only switched numbers from Vodafone because this was becoming a nuisance about a week ago! I was reassured this wouldn't happen again! I simply blocked this number on my iPhone (press i>scroll to bottom & block caller). Hope they don't ring again. Any free apps for phone filtering/caller blocking please? What is worrying is that I'm connected to the Racing Industry, so I've contacted Racing Welfare ,NASS and the Jockey Club to report this scam. I got a recorded message stating Racing Advisory Line, I hung up. so god knows how much I'm going to be charged on my Landline. :-( This surely should be stopped or shut down. I rang back and there was a recorded message which says its the Racing Advisory Service and that their service would be updated at 11am. I had no idea why they would call my number or who the hell they were. Therefore I was curious. However on googling their number I found this forum and I seem to have been scammed. August 7, 2015, 3:07 pm I always google numbers when they ring and hang up more or less after the first ring. you always find there are forums like this and as I have a company phone I have to be mindful of which numbers I call.
