Hallifax scam for internet online banking. I don't have an account with these people so I can only assume this is some kind of mass call scam to phish as many honest people as possible. Ignore all other comments if they are positive. All fakes.

Call today asking me.

Are you setting up an on-line statement ?

I did not answer this call they left a message on my answer machine. I listened to this message and the person sounded professional.

The message was a SCAM as no company would ask you this question with out talking to you and letting you know who you are dealing with.

They never mentioned a company- DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY DETAILS TO THESE PEOPLE>

I got a call from this number because I was setting-up a new online payment. It's an automated message to confirm the authorisation number for the new payment. It's not a scam in my opinion and if I didn't give the four digit authorisation number, I wouldn't have been able to complete the payment.

Got a call on my house phone at 11.30pm from an automated caller saying they were from the bank of Scotland asking me if I'd set up a cash transaction?. Why would any bank call you at that time of night so I guess this must be a scam.

I received three calls starting at 7.12am today that woke me up. I did not answer but voice mail took automated messages asking me to register my mobile device to complete the setup of online banking, giving the usual options. The message did not pick up who the call was from, but it was a professional sounding message. I deleted the messages and did not return the calls.

This is a Halifax automated call number for security purposes, eg when setting up a new payment. They called when I set up a new payment online and asked me to submit a pin code. This was all explained on the screen whilst online banking. I don't know why it would call without going through this process? Maybe people have used faked mobile numbers?

This was "Halifax" calling me after I tried to do something online with them. I was told online that I should expect the call. Seems to be legit, but I still felt uncomfortable giving them or entering any information over the phone. I will find another way later.

I received 6 calls in 2 minutes from this number asking for a 4 digit pin to complete the registration of my mobile phone for Bank of Scotland. The time was 19.06 I do not have a bank account with this company and nor have a made any transactions relating to this company I know how my bank operate and it's not in this manner and they certainly wouldn't repeat call in this way it's unprofessional ... Definitely a scam probably charging you for answering some premium rate number

This is a legit number. When you set up the Bank of Scotland app on a new mobile, or set up a new beneficiary to make a payment to (seemingly Halifax too), this number automatically calls you to input the 4 digit code shown to you on the app/website screen as a security measure. This is NOT your PIN number. If you haven't used online banking and receive this call, chances are someone is trying to use your account.

This is a number that automatically calls you when you download a Bank of Scotland/Halifax app on your mobile or set up a new beneficiary to make a payment to online or on said app. It calls the number linked to the bank account and asks you to input the 4 digit number shown to you on the website/app screen as a security measure. It doesn't ask you for any of your banking details. If you receive this call and haven't used online banking, it may be that someone is trying to use your bank account; alternatively someone may have incorrectly previously saved your phone number when setting up their account, or it may well have been their old number and they just haven't updated their number yet. Legit caller!

I received 3 calls at 03:30 this morning from this number asking me for information. I fortunately had my wits about me as I had not been asleep for long and realised that my bank would not ask for details like PIN or details as they would already have had them! At this time of the night, most people would be susceptible to handing out information in their half sleepy state. I phoned my bank this morning to find out it was a SCAM. be careful people!

NOT a scam. Legit call from HBOS when setting up payment online. Calls the number you ask from those on your screen, you then key in a randomly generated 4 digit pin which is displayed on your screen to confirm genuine. If you are not expecting a call then either someone is accessing your account or someone has YOUR number recorded as theirs.

The number is an automated call from Halifax to authorise the use of their banking app on the your device. If you have received a call from that number and are not a affiliated with Halifax, then someone will have used your number for their online banking and are attempting to register on of their devices. Why they'd use a random number is completely beyond comprehension but then again, not everyone is logical.

I have used it numerous times and can confirm that it is a legitimate number that is protecting the bankee's details through secondary authorisation.
