Phishing scam text messages being sent to me from this number. They said my Llyods bank account had been used for an itunes purchase I never made and they needed to verify info to reactivate my card. I called my bank and they said this was a scam, that they don't send out texts like this. I will be blocking this number from now on.

I received this text:

"Halifax has noticed your Debit card ending **** was recently used on 16-07-2014 05:39:30, at EDC WAT PHNOM 020000018 for £119.6. Please confirm if this transaction was made by you by replying Yes or No."

The SMS gave the correct last four numbers and my correct bank so I assume that a rouge company has sold or given away my bank details. I hope it wasn't the Halifax.

Mine is the earlier comment. I've just spoken with Halifax fraud team; this is a real text from Halifax. It doesn't mean your payment will go through, it's just them alerting you that your card was used. If you text yes back, you'll get another message from their fraud department

Yes, it is a scam. Banks do not send out texts. They would at most call you to tell you about the fraud and to ask you if you made the purchase. Call the number on the back of your card to be 100% certain and never get personal with random communication.

Got this message from Lloyds Bank, card and transaction details were correct. Rang the number on the back of my card, spoke to Fraud, they confirmed it was sent by them and asked me to reply.

Looks like this triggers if you (or someone with the card details) attempt to use the card outside of your normal patterns. Your transaction will have been declined and you will have to try again.

This IS NOT a scam. It's a general hosting number used by the Halifax and Lloyds to pick up potentially fraudlent transactions and get you to stop any that you don't recognise before their system processes it out of your account. However, it would've been nice if they told us this judging by the number of people who (fairly) have thought it was a scam!

Received this text after trying to make an online payment to a company in the US. Payment was declined even though funds were available. I was dubious about a text from what looked like a mobile number claiming to be from my bank - called them and they said it was routine procedure. I just received a text this evening around 19:22. It said "Lloyds Bank has noticed your Debit Card ending **** was recently used on 26/06/2015 19:21:58 at WWW.AIRHOPTRAMPELIN EOA 95474493 FOR £92. Please confirm if this transaction was made by you by replying Yes or No"

At first, wtf, someone using my lloyds card?....wait a minute, something don't look right, the website name was spelled wrong, the card ending doesn't match (mind you, I'm waiting for another since change of address) and all I have in my lloyds account is £1.00, the transaction would of never been allowed, plus, I never use it online, I've got another bank account that handles my finance and luxury.

Then I looked up the number, seems this has happen to quite a lot of people.

Scumbags aren't getting my money!

If in doubt, don't reply, don't phone the number they give you, phone your official bank number that is on your statement or on the official bank website. No doubt they will say "no such transaction was made"..

Me again, I'm sorry, but it is geniune, though don't ignore it, phone your bank if your suspicious of the txt, apparently, LLoyds and Halifax use the same security company that uses anti-fraud.

I didn't feel comfortable replying to this text, I phoned Lloyds official number that you would get on the bank statement.

Apparently, when changed my address over to my new one, the bank said they will have the card delivered to me. They have it registered as delivered. Apparently, I never got the card (could of been postman, could be anyone, someone that stopped by and just took the letter from the letter box) and has used it at 3 different locations. They attempted a transaction online of £300, they have made a transaction at a company for £92 and another at another for £35. All have been cancelled except for the £35 which the account is still pending. I have been told that I will be sent a form to confirm statement that it was used for fraud and they will refund that money.

I phoned one of the company, gave them the details of the fraud and asked them to call the authorities if they made a booking and show up.
